London: Day and Haghe, 1837.] 4 tinted lithographs with hand-colouring, separately mounted, framed and glazed, mount apertures 29.6 x 59.5cm, a few stains and repairs, prints closely trimmed with captions not visible (not examined out frames) [not in Abbey] (4)
Provenance
J. S. Carolin FCA, Sevenoaks, Kent (his typescript label to rear board of one of the prints, dated 1977 and noting their original acquisition from Francis Edwards in 1952.
Footnote
No other complete set traced in auction records; a set of three of the four prints was sold by Lyon & Turnbull on 16 June 2026 (lot 110). Frederico Guilherme Briggs was born in Brazil to an English father William, a merchant, and a Brazilian mother. He pioneered lithographic printing in Brazil and became the country's principal exponent of the technique in the 19th century.
