B.’, top edge gilt, tipped-in albumen photograph of Mary Bignold facing title page, ink ownership inscription to front free endpaper, frontispiece tissue guard partly detached, colour bleed from cloth to pastedowns, intermittent smudge marks primarily to margins, frontispiece tissue guard partly detached, boards rubbed and corners bumped, head and tail of spine worn, rear hinge split;

First edition, deluxe issue, one of 100 copies, large 8vo (25.5 x 20cm), original calf with gilt title and roedeer illustration, gilt title to spine, top edge gilt, other pages uncut, ink inscription to front free endpaper, lacking frontispiece tissue-guard, indentation to fore-edge, foxing to front and rear pastedowns and free endpapers, further occasional foxing, lower left corner of rear board detaching from pastedown, rear joint split, boards scuffed and some loss to head of spine;
