The first dictionary of the Punjabi language, published in the year of the Sikh Empire's defeat in the Second Anglo-Sikh War and evidently intended for use by British officers and other men on the spot, the final part, a phrasebook titled ‘Punjabee Dialogues’, being arranged under headings such as ‘Relating to a deceased Sepoy’, ‘Having reference to an inspection of arms and accoutrements’, and ‘Regarding treasure escort parties’.
