First edition, deluxe issue, one of 50 copies printed on handmade paper, with the plates on Japanese paper, mounted, and initialled in pencil by the artist, folio (41.5 x 31.4cm), contemporary red half morocco by Zaehnsdorf, top edge gilt, others untrimmed, 36 chromolithographic plates, spine and corners rubbed, crack to head of front joint

No fewer than five of the trophies depicted relate to Tipu Sultan, sultan of Mysore: his sword and scabbard, found on his body at Seringapatam; the tiger's head from his throne; a jewelled bird from his throne; his helmet and standard; and his gun. Other items include the crown of the king of Kandy, ‘swords surrended at Delhi by the king and princes to Major Hodson’, and relics of Nelson, Wellington, and Cook.
