London: for the Egoist Press by John Rodker, Paris, 1922. 4to (22.4 x 16.2cm), contemporary grosgrain brown morocco by Podesta, spine gilt in compartments, raised bands, arabesque centrepieces gilt to covers within concentric gilt frames, maroon crushed morocco doublures gilt, fore and bottom edges untrimmed, with the half-title, limitation leaf, publisher's apology leaf, and all 3 divisional numeral leaves, the list of errata (8 pp.) bound in at rear (issued laid in), the initial two blanks and final blank apparently original, text-block browned, occasional marks and blemishes [Slocum & Cahoon 18]

First UK edition, the second overall, one of 2,000 numbered copies, of which 500 (according to a statement in later printings of the work) were seized and destroyed by U.S. Customs. Printed from the plates of the first edition, published by Shakespeare and Company a few months before, the Egoist Press edition is sometimes described as the second issue of the first edition.
