Being a Compleat Discovery of those Arts. Oxford: printed and sold for the authors, George Parker … John Stalker, 1688. First edition (one of at least three imprint variants of this work printed in 1688), folio (37.5 x 23cm), modern calf with remnants of contemporary calf binding laid onto cover, 14 engraved plates only (of 24), edges of the title page, first 5 leaves of text and plates repaired and consolidated with Japanese paper, some dust-soiling and damp-staining, with ownership inscriptions on title page, Ignatius Thorp, Catherine Southcote and one other (no longer legible), additional inscription by Thorp on recto of leaf [A2] and occasional annotations by him throughout the text [Wing S5187A; ESTC R229848]
Provenance
A Catholic priest Ignatius Thorp is recorded as having lived in the south west of England in the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
