Footnote
A striking photographic record of the work of one of the most important hospitals established to cope with the unprecedented human toll of the Great War and the destructiveness of modern ordnance (the other being the Queen Mary Hospital Auxiliary Hospital, Roehampton). In addition to the hospital grounds and buildings, the plates show the manufacture of prosthetic limbs, and amputee soldiers engaged in various activities including beekeeping, wood-turning and basket-weaving.
