Description
Oblong folio, contemporary black half morocco, containing 13 large albumen-print photographs, all 21.5 x 26.5cm, all signed and captioned in the negative, including views of Hagia Sophia, various mosques (Sultanahmet, Eyüp Sultan, Bayezid), a panoramic view from the Galata tower, etc., and 8 similar photographs of Greece (Mycenae, the Parthenon, etc.);
Together with: another album containing 4 large albumen-print photographs of Egyptian subjects by Langaki (Port Said, the statue of Ferdinand de Lesseps, ‘Femmes arabes’, and crocodile hunters, 22 x 28cm), and 8 photographs of Australia and New Zealand by Kerry of Sydney or Burton of Dunedin (all 20 x 15cm, one captioned in negative ‘Aboriginals’ Camp, Group of Girls'), and several further photographs either loose or mounted (one captioned ‘Port Arthur, Jamaica' with stamp of H. H. Baily of Hobart on verso, 17.5 x 23.5cm, one captioned in negative ‘Samoans Playing Cards’, 15 x 20.5cm); also 9 loose album leaves with approx. 40 gelatin silver print photographs apparently of Yemen, 1930s, including aerial photographs and personal snapshots, including Mukalla (captioned on verso), the parade ground at Aden, camel-riding in the desert, etc. (various dimensions)
