Description
1) Typed letter signed to John Walton, department of botany, University of Glasgow, 1960, in French, thanking Walton for his hospitality, with original envelope annotated on verso ‘Chagall was given an honorary degree in Glasgow & my parents helped to entertain them [sic] afterwards as they both talked French fluently’;
2) A copy of Emily Genauer, Marc Chagall, Paris: Flammarion, c.1950, 12mo, original wrappers, inscribed by Chagall ‘Marc Chagall, 1959, Glasgow’ on half-title, ownership inscription ‘John and Dorothy Walton’ on front free endpaper, half-title working loose;
3) Ticket for the University of Glasgow honorary graduation ceremony, 17 June 1959, inscribed by Chagall on verso ‘Marc Chagall, Pavilion Marsan, Palais de Louvre, Paris’, annotated below ‘(where an exhibition was about to be held’).
