a free pardon issued to George Rickton of Nottingham, ‘convicted of stealing lace and … sentenced to be transported seven years’, single foolscap leaf written on both sides, 31 x 19.8cm, signed ‘George R’ upper left (in the loose style characteristic of his later years), counter-signed by George Spencer, 2nd Earl Spencer as home secretary;
Together with 6 other 19th-century autographs (William IV, clipped signature; Duke of Wellington, cover signed ‘Wellesley’; and similar, these all tipped or laid in to homemade booklet with typescript descriptions) (2)
