Footnote
Very rare: ESTC traces two complete copies, and two copies of the second volume only. ‘The Leverian Museum contained the greater part of the specimens, whether zoological or ethnological, that were collected on the three memorable voyages of Captain cook, specimens which were of inestimable value’ (Museums Association, Report of Proceedings, 1891, p. 39). The second volume contains a section describing ‘two curious animals and an insect’ mentioned in the recently published Travels to Discover the Source of the Nile by James Bruce. ‘Mrs Teachwell’, identified as the author in the publisher's catalogue at the rear, was a nom-de-plume of the prolific writer for children Ellenor, Lady Fenn.
