Description
Edinburgh: printed for the author, and sold by William Creech, 1787. First Edinburgh edition (second overall), one of 3,000 copies, 8vo (22.4 x 14cm), xlviii [2] 10-368 pp., c.1900 crushed blue morocco by Henderson & Bisset of Edinburgh, twin fillet frames gilt to spine-compartments and covers, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt, others untrimmed, half-title, stipple-engraved portrait frontispiece, ‘Boxburgh' on p. xxxvii and ‘skinking’ on p. 263, frontispiece slightly spotted and offset, closed tear in Y2 neatly repaired, a notably wide-margined copy [ESTC T125274; Rothschild 556].
