The Strand Magazine (1891-1950) was a monthly publication comprising short stories and general interest articles. Authors included Arthur Conan Doyle, Rudyard Kipling and H.G. Wells. The serialisation of Conan Doyle's tales, particularly The Hound of the Baskervilles, were extremely popular and played a large part in the writer's success.
