Footnote
Born in Pressburg in 1856, Caroline Geisler (Caroline Geisler-Schubert) was the daughter of Linus Geisler and Elise Schubert, great-niece of Franz Schubert. She was a pianist and piano teacher. Between 1885 and 1888, she trained with Clara Schumann in Frankfurt. Although her name is misspelt on the cabinet card, it is possible that she was the recipient of the photograph as a girl.
