Approximately 33 in total, on medium to large sheets (up to about 48 x 72 cm), including: George Hay, 7th Marquess of Tweeddale (1753-1804), charter of adjudication addressed to ‘the trustees of the last marquis’, 1790, concerning land ‘above the bridge of Gifford’, East Lothian, signed three times by Tweeddale (at the foot of each page); Thomas Hamilton, 7th Earl of Haddington (1721-1794), charter of confirmation and precept of clare constat to Elizabeth and Janet Johnston, 1763, relating to lands in Coldstream, signed by Haddington lower right; Jean Hamilton of Bourtreehill, Countess of Crawford (c.1735-1809), charter, 1787, relating to the sale of lands in Balgray to one John Niven, signed ‘J. Hamilton Craufurd’; a document relating to John Campbell, 1st Earl of Loudoun (1598-1662), noted covenanter, possibly dated 1633, indestinct signature lower right; instrument of sasine relating to the barony of Grubet, Roxburghshire, in favour of Sir David Bennett of Grubet, 1733; and others, relating to transactions concerning Coldstream, Nether Howden, Duns, Balgray, 'Wideopen' (hill near Morebattle), and elsewhere; together with approx. 17 similar documents on paper (approx. 50)
