Footnote
Jose Ferreira Borges ‘was a Portuguese counsellor, economist and politician. He was, among other functions, secretary for the Company of Wine of Alto Douro, member of the Provisional Board of the Supreme Government of 1820, attorney in the city of Porto and congressman of the Cortes Constituintes of 1821. He was the main author of the first Portuguese Commercial Document of 1833’ (British Museum, online). His published works appear generally to be uncommon. Library Hub traces one copy only of O correio interceptado in British and Irish institutional libraries (at the British Library), one for Instituiçoens de direito cambial Portuguez (at Oxford), two for his Synopsis Juridica (BL and LSE), and so on.
