A special warrant from the King to the Privy Council, dated 24th August 1603, liberating the XI Baron of Kilravock and his son from prison in Edinburgh, where they had been interred for failing to apprehend rebellious kinsmen: “We haif gevin and grautit and be the tennour heirof gevis and grantis our speciall licence and permissioun to Williame Ros of Kilraik, to depart furth of our burcht of Edinburcht, quhairin he is presentlie wardit, home to his awin hous, for doing of his lefull efl'airis and business, without ony scaithe or danger to be incurrit be him...”, signed James R., and countersigned Sir G.
