Letter signed ‘James Regent’, dated 24th April 1569, sent from James Earl of Moray, from Edinburgh to the 10th Baron of Kilravock, asking him to repair to Brechin: “Quhairfor we maist effectiouslie desyris yow that ye, weill and substantiouslie accumpaueit with your haill kin, freindis, servandis, tennentis, and all that will do for yow, faill nocht to be in the burcht of Innernes the said first day of Junij, reddy tocum fordwart and meit or vthervvis to ressaue sic directionis as salbe thocht gude to the weilfair of our caus; quhairin ye sail do ws maist acceptabill plesour and declair your selff aue earnist fauorare of the King our soueranis auctorite, to the obedience quhairof…”, 21.5 x 31.5cm, 16 lines on paper [Rose, Shaw & Innes p.77];
