Footnote
Very rare: no other copy traced at auction, and two copies only identified by Library Hub, at the National Library of Scotland and the British Library. ‘This little volume contains the record of the principal occurrences witnessed by me during two voyages in the African Slave Trade, in the course of the first four years of the present century … I have heard so many gross misstatements respecting West Indian slavery, and the horrors of the “Middle Passage," that I formed the resolution, should time be allowed me, to give the result of my own experience … in order to disabuse the minds of many well-meaning people' (p. v).
