This June's Books &amp; Manuscripts auction was led by one of the most important collections of historical Scottish manuscripts ever offered for sale - the collection from Kilravock Castle, which sold for over £124,000* contained letters signed by Mary Queen of Scots, James V, James VI and I, and Mary of Guise. &nbsp;&nbsp;From the 20th century, a highlight of the sale was a spectacular archive depicting the progress of Roald Dahl’s 1984 memoir Boy: Tales of Childhood from idea to print, and including 30 original ink sketches by Dahl. The Boy archive, which sold for £23,940*, was one of several lots from the estate of the late Ian Craig (1944-2023), who was Dahl’s art director at Jonathan Cape while also working with celebrated figures including Judith Kerr and Ralph Steadman.The sale also offered a rich selection of children’s books and original artwork, rare works of travel and exploration, and fine bindings, together with original letters by figures including Winston Churchill and Ludwig Wittgenstein, and manuscripts and historical documents in fields ranging from science to the Napoleonic Wars.*sold prices are inclusive of Buyer's Premium.Buyer's Guide:
