Draft signet letter, with the names of addressees and places left blank, discussing a disputed perambulation of the lands of Hugh Rose of Kilravock, signed James R., 29 lines on paper, 30 x 27cm;
[with] a curious notorised copy signet letter of James V of Scotland to Patrick Hepburn, Bishop of Moray (the presumed intended recipient of the letter above), dated 6th December 1542, with the Latin inscription below “omnibus eiusdem in nullo discrepantis quod rei aut facti substan* addet amittet aut diminuat collatonata et copiata per me notarium publicum subscriptum teste me propria Ita est Hugo Cregre notarius publicus”, asking the Bishop of Moray to desist from his claims on the Rose lands (2)
