A collection of 163 original pencil drawings and 1 pencil and ink drawings by the artist and book illustrator Hugh Thomson (1860-1920). The majority of the drawings are for C. H. Dick's Highways and byways in Galloway and Carrick, London: Macmillan, 1916. The location is usually identified and many of the drawings bear on the verso the page number of the book where they appear. Many are initialled and a number are dated 1911. A number of the drawings are unpublished. 6 of the drawings are mounted. Note: A copy of Dick's book is included, as is a copy of Spielman and Jerrold's Hugh Thomson, London: Black, 1931 &nbsp;
