37 x 48 cms. Mounted in a Hogarth frame and glazed at verso to reveal Latin text. Later hand colouring. Central fold visible. Cologne [n.d., c. 1582?]
Note: From Braun & Hogenberg's Civitas orbis terrarum which was published in 6 volumes (1572-1617). The plan of Edinburgh appeared as no 4 in vol. 3, which although undated, has a preface dated 1582. The description of Edinburgh was written by Alexander Alesius.
