Footnote
One of the most unusual cases among the Beijing School of inside-painted artists associated with Zhou Leyuan is that of Zhu Zhanyuan. Only eleven bottles by him are currently recorded. Although he devoted his entire career to emulating Zhou Leyuan’s style and much of his subject matter, he was a highly competent artist who produced several outstanding paintings. His career appears to have spanned the period from 1896 to 1906, with the majority of his paintings dating to the earlier years.
