Footnote
Ye Xiaofeng was the eldest son of Ye Zhongsan, one of the foremost masters of Beijing-style inside-painted snuff bottles. He studied under his father from an early age and specialised primarily in figural subjects, while also painting animals and insects. During Ye Zhongsan’s later years, Ye Xiaofeng is recorded as having assisted his father with painting, after which Ye Zhongsan would add the finishing details and inscriptions. His early works were sometimes signed by his father, making individual attribution difficult.
