鎏金鐵鑄開光鋪首風炉
of compressed globular form pierced with two cartouches on either side, with twin lion handles with suspended rings on the other sides, all raised on three integral feet

Private Scottish collection, Dundee; the avid collector has been collecting Asian Art for over 50 years since 1975. Previously in the Jim Lennon collection, acquired at Bonhams Edinburgh, 26 Jan 2022, lot 56.

Compare to a Japanese iron furo, Taisho period, in the Spurlock Museum of World Cultures, accession no. 2014.01.0035A. According to the catalogue, one of the utensils for Japanese tea culture is the furo, or brazier. The furo is used to heat the water inside the kama, mainly during the summer.
