Description
明末清初 銅胎掐絲琺瑯饕餮紋方鼎式帶蓋香爐 帶木座
of archaistic fang ding form, the rectangular body brightly enamelled in blue, green and red, each facet decorated with a taotie mask divided by a vertical gilt flange below a pair of confronted kui dragons, the gilt mouth rim surmounted by a pair of upright handles similarly decorated and gilt on the sides, the base divided by a black cross with stylised geometric motif around, all raised on four bladed splayed legs of archaistic dragon-form, the lid cast in openwork below a finial in the form of a gilt bronze Buddhist lion playing brocade ball, with a finely carved fitted wooden stand

An almost identical cloisonne enamel incense burner in the shape of Ding vessel, of closely comparable design, motif and size (also 17.8cm high) to the present example, dated to late Ming to early Qing dynasty, was in the Qing Court Collection and now in the collection of the National Palace Museum, Taipei, museum number: Zhong Fa 中琺133.
一件幾乎相同的銅胎掐絲琺瑯方鼎式香爐,其在設計、紋飾及尺寸(同樣高17.8公分)與本品均極為相近,定年為明末清初,原為清宮舊藏,現藏於臺北國立故宮博物院,館藏號: 中琺133。
