See a Yaozhou lobed ewer, dated Five Dynasties to Northern Song dynasty, closely comparable to the melon-shaped body and the design of the spout and handle, was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 30 May 2024, lot 2852. For comparable Ding-ware melon-shaped ewers, dated Northern Song dynasty, see Sōji Meihin-ten Teiyō Jishūyō [The Exhibition of Song Ceramics, Ding ware and Cizhou ware], Shirokiya, Tokyo, 7–12 December 1962, no. 11. A further comparable Ding-ware ewer, dated to the Five Dynasties or Northern Song dynasty, late 10th / early 11th century, similar in size and design but of ovoid body, is in the Art Institute of Chicago, reference no. 1964.787a-c. Another comparable Ding melon-shaped ewer with different handle design, dated to the Northern Song dynasty, was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 12 Apr 2018, lot 68.
