康熙款或到代 鬥彩龍鳳紋碗
decorated to the exterior with two five-clawed dragons in pursuit of flaming pearls and two phoenix amongst scrolling clouds, all above rocks rising from cresting waves, the foot rims encircled with a band of floral sprays with green and aubergine enamels, the base inscribed with a six-character Kangxi mark in double circle in underglaze blue

Note: The present bowl is extremely rare in its combination of design. A pair of closely comparable bowls in design and colour palette, with Kangxi mark and of the period, was sold at Christie's London, 6 Nov 2018, lot 164. Other comparable examples with yellow ground: one published in Wang Qingzheng, ed., Kangxi Porcelain Ware from the Shanghai Museum Collection, Shanghai, 1998, pl.160. One further yellow-ground example was sold at Bonhams London, 12 May 2011, lot 393.
