the scabbard and hilt of kinji lacquer with details of e-nashiji and togidashi maki-e, the scabbard elaborately inlaid in typical Shibayama style with a pair of pheasants perched on a blossoming white cherry tree on the one side, and with two smaller birds on the reverse, the hilt embellished with a vase and a basket containing peony and chrysanthemum bouquets, the kashira, the fuchi and the kozuka of the kogatana decorated in cloisonné enamel with small flowerheads, unsigned
