each side decorated with a pierced panel with a central medallion of young boys at play in a garden, all against a dense ground with chrysanthemum, lotus, peony and hibiscus flowers, apocryphal six-character Qianlong mark to the underside of the stand

Provenance:
From the Estate of Frank Roy Dorrington and Lillian Grace Dorrington.
Roy Dorrington was employed by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for almost thirty years. Between 1920 and 1938 he was based for periods of time at the British High Commission in Canberra, Australia. He was sent to Hong Kong for periods between 1925-1927 when it was suffering considerable political upheaval, and it was during this period that he acquired and was given gifts of Chinese Ceramics which now form part of the surviving collection.
