Description
of a young girl with blonde hair tied in bunches, the one piece caved torso and head with yellowed gesso, flaked to the face and overpainted in pink, the arms and legs well-jointed and pegged at the elbows and knees, the midriff/ hip joint wrapped in straw, her black painted boots with protruding pegs at the heel, the hands with well-carved and naturalistically spread and arched fingers, her silk-satin dress in pale blue, ivory and green, finely embroidered with sprays of summer flowers and bands of gilt metal brocade, jewelled at the waist with a swag of purple glass beads, with self-coloured lace collar, cuffs, arms and underskirt (currently contained within a Victorian softwood and glazed display case)
