Description
the twin train movement with anchor escapement striking the hours on a bell, the blind fret carved swan neck pediment with urn finial above roman dial painted with a highlander to the arch and subsidiary second and calendar dials bounded by rosette spandrels, indistinctly signed 'Wm. Faarhney, Mxuxxx..' the ogee arched trunk door above plain apron, on plinth base

Note: two hand written labels inside read: ' Extract from notes by Lady Strathallan, 1853 - After the battle of Culloden the house of Machany* was plundered by the Hanoverian soldiers under General Hawley. One of the few relics remaining of these times is the kitchen clock, now in use- the case of which may been seen to have been hacked by their swords and is marked with bullet shots
