Footnote
The Belisha beacon featured in this design was introduced in the United Kingdom in 1934 by the Minister for Transport Leslie Hore-Belisha. They were intended to improve road safety by alerting drivers to the presence of zebra crossings and pedestrians crossing the road. They have subsequently been adopted by other countries around the world.
