Bianchini Ferier, the silk weaving house in Lyon, France, was begun in 1888 by Charles Bianchini, François Ferier and François Atuyer in Lyon. The breakthrough came in 1912 when the artist Raoul Dufy was employed as a designer, having been previously employed by the acclaimed textile designer and decorator Paul Poiret. During this period, until 1928, Dufy was prolific and created about 4000 designs for the firm. Other designers who worked for the firm included Paul Iribe, Robert Bonfils and Henri Gillet.
