Note:
A. C. J. Wall was a Birmingham industrialist who started collecting in the 1930s. His broad collection included paintings, ceramics, furniture and sculpture. He was a well-known patron of the arts, particularly in Birmingham. Much of his collection was sold by Christie's in 1970, with many pieces being bought by leading museums.
