Our July Rare Books, Manuscripts, Maps & Photographs sale was led by an important document signed by Sir Walter Raleigh, a very early edition of John Cleland's Memoirs of A Woman of Pleasure (c.1755), a work better known to posterity as Fanny Hill, and a rare first edition of John Law’s Money and Trade Considered (1705). Additional highlights featuring in the sale included a first edition, first impression, paperback issue of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (1997), a set of James Sowerby's The Mineral Conchology of Great Britain (1812-29) from the library of Andrew Carnegie, and an imposing 18th century atlas by Thomas Kitchin.
