Douglas Girton is our Head of Department for British & European Furniture & Works of Art and a senior specialist in Clocks and European Ceramics & Glass.
A native of Pennsylvania, United States, Douglas holds a BA in English Literature from Muhlenberg College, and completed some of his studies in York where he had an introduction to life in the UK. Always possessing a keen interest in history, art and material culture, Douglas furthered his education with an MFA from Sotheby’s Institute, London, where he was awarded a first degree for his work on Ford Madox Brown’s furniture designs and influence on the early days of Morris & Co.
Prior to Lyon & Turnbull, Douglas worked in the English & Continental Furniture & Decorative Arts department at our sister auction house Freeman’s in Philadelphia before moving to the UK in 2010.
