PRIMARY FUNCTION/POSITION SUMMARY
Lyon & Turnbull is one of the premier fine art and antiques auctioneers in the UK. The team handles fine art, artefacts, and antiques; objects that are high in value, fragile and irreplaceable. Art Handlers work both individually and as a team to provide services including packing/unpacking, and moving/handling of fine art and high value property. Art Handlers are responsible for ensuring the saleroom and storage areas are well presented and items are safely stored.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Exceptional care in handling, movement, storage and packing of property with the primary focus and goal being the safety of both people and property at all times.
- Properly loading and unloading vehicles and ensuring artwork is secured and stable during transport
- Ensuring artwork is stored safely in Lyon and Turnbull stores
- Packing/unpacking artworks and antiques
- Installation of objects in saleroom/exhibition space ranging from paintings, antiques, and sculptures of all sizes and description selecting the proper hardware as appropriate
- Interact positively and communicate well with customer base and colleagues/vendors
- Complete critical paperwork such as inventories, receipts, clearing copies, etc. with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Work both individually and as part of a team to accomplish projects
- Assist in maintaining the orderliness, housekeeping and security of Lyon and Turnbull’s facilities and equipment.
- Accurate labelling and locating of property.
- Meeting deadlines for preparation of sales for exhibition set ups, views, breakdowns and transport.
- Provide exceptional client service, both internally and externally.
- Work at height on ladders and mechanical platforms.
- Helping to manage assigned departmental inventory with stock takes.
- Assisting with facilities maintenance

- General computer literacy – Outlook
- Able to undertake regular heavy lifting.
- Clean Driving Licence
HOURS & BENEFITS
- Hours - Monday to Friday - 9am to 5pm
- Salary - dependent on experience.
- Holidays - 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays) increasing to 33 with service
