Lyon & Turnbull can provide both current and ongoing advice on the values of your collection. As the market changes and your works gain or reduce in value, we can keep you informed to ensure you select the best possible time to sell.
We can provide advice on adding to or creating a collection. As well as our own auctions, our contacts and command of the marketplace makes it simple to locate, value and acquire works of art to achieve your aims.
“Hundreds if not thousands of companies collect art — but only a few make an art of collecting.”
Forbes Magazine on the Avon Collection
In today's online world, it is easy to reach all corners via the internet and other media outlets. We exploit this to the full, with the aid of our international contacts and online auction platforms. We also understand the continued importance of seeing a beautiful work of art up close, which can elicit that 'must have' passion in prospective buyers. We therefore tour the highlights or entire collections to the most appropriate locations worldwide in order to put them in front of the people who are most likely to buy them, wherever they may be.
The choice of media outlets available today is incredible. Whether it is advertising, social media, online catalogues and search engines or catalogue production, the competition for attention is intense. It is therefore even more important to make an impact and stand out from the crowd. At Freeman’s and Lyon & Turnbull we ensure that each collection is marketed to its best advantage. Our press department is adept at finding the stories that matter, and make the most of editorial opportunities in the world’s press. Our dedicated marketing team works with our clients to provide a thoughtful, appropriate and effective campaign that makes each sale an un-missable event.
Every collection is unique and so every aspect of our marketing and promotion is specially designed to suit the nature of the artworks being offered. Events usually include tours of highlights to international locations, where we host a series of private views, talks, lunches and dinners. The venue for the auction will also be chosen with the nature of the collection and the requirements of the owner in mind. This can vary from sales in our auction rooms, through ‘house sales’ on the premises, to specifically chosen venues. When we sold the Deloitte Collection of Contemporary Art, for example, we made the decision to sell in London and to set the collection off to its best advantage we took over a substantial part of the Royal Academy – it made for a compelling event.
Each collection is unique and often has an emotional connection to the owners who create or inherit them. Our team work closely with our clients to provide a carefully tailored approach to the sale of their collections.
