Events & Sponsorships

Through our event and charity auction services, Lyon & Turnbull is proud to sponsor both national and international charities, museums and institutions. From hosting fundraising events at our historical location in Edinburgh’s New Town, providing a charity auctioneer at your event or assisting with “Antiques Roadshow" style valuation events throughout the country, our Events & Sponsorships team will be happy to discuss any possible opportunity with your charity.

Charity events - University of St Andrews

The Lyon & Turnbull team of auctioneers have been delighted to assist a great many charities over the years with their auction events. The team pride themselves on using their years of experience to get the best from an audience on the evening – really making a spectacle of the event and keeping everyone enraptured, and in a generous mood, throughout the auction.

From the South-East of England to the North of Scotland, the Lyon & Turnbull team have assisted a great number of charities raise both their profile and funds through antiques valuation days. By offering “Antiques Roadshow” style valuations in return for a donation, considerable funds can be raised in just one afternoon or evening. Our events team are also happy to work alongside the host charity to maximise the impact of the valuations event, from promotional ideas to accompanying activities, making it a memorable and successful day for all.

Events - Talks & Lectures

From the lives of the Scottish Colourists to the ecology of design, our main saleroom has played host to a huge range of speakers on a vast range of subjects. The church heritage of our New Town headquarters has provided us with a venue designed specifically with acoustics in mind – perfect considering the popularity of our talks and lectures lead to a majority being standing room only! Recent speakers have included National Galleries curator Alice Strang; master engraver Malcolm Appleby; BBC Antiques Roadshow star Judith Miller; Scottish art historian Christopher Andreae and leading Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek.

Breast in Art | Exhibition & Charity Auction

After being diagnosed with breast cancer, artist Helen Patterson wanted to create an event that would give back something to the team at Breakthrough Breast Cancer who had provided such support through her treatment. Helen worked for over a year to pull together donations for the Breast in Art auction, supported by our Contemporary Art specialist Charlotte Riordan. The immensely generous donations by artists from all over the UK, including Sarah Lucas and Elizabeth Blackadder, were well received with the auction raising nearly £60,000 on the night. Funds will go towards supporting Scotland’s only dedicated breast cancer research unit at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh.

"I am extremely grateful to the team at Lyon & Turnbull for hosting this exhibition, entirely at no cost, allowing all proceeds to be donated to the charity. Without their expertise, time and patience this exhibition would never have come to fruition."
