One of the most important Scottish artists of the 20th century, Peploe was the eldest and most successful of the four artists known as the ‘Scottish Colourists’, along with F. C. B. Cadell, J. D. Fergusson and G.L. Hunter. Peploe was described in The Times as "one of the most interesting and inspiring of Scottish painters...one of the few whose works were highly esteemed not only in Scotland, but in England and abroad." His work is held in numerous public collections in the UK and beyond.
This December we are delighted to present a celebratory section dedicated to Peploe in our auction of Scottish Paintings & Sculpture.
