Fine Asian Works of Art Auction, November 2016

Our latest auction of Fine Asian Works of Art took place for the first time in central London at Asia House as part of the Asian Art in London 2016 programme of auctions. Featuring 318 lots of predominantly Chinese origin, the sale attracted a room of international bidders.

Head of sale Lee Young remarked: “Yet again there was an eye towards quality and quantity; positioning ourselves during Asian Art in London week was beneficial, combining an easy to reach location and an evening sale time we avoided clashes in what is a very congested week for collectors to negotiate.”

Lot 155 | FINE FAMILLE ROSE GRISAILLE-DECORATED 'WINTER LANDSCAPE' PLAQUE
YU WENXIANG (1910-1993), 1938 | Sold for £45,000

Highlight lots of particular note included the Fine Famille Rose Grisaille-Decorated ‘Winter Landscape' far exceeding its estimate and realising £45,000.* The sale results underlined once again that provenance remains paramount for collectors, illustrated by pieces sold as part of the Webb Collection, notably the Korean White-Glazed Moon Jar, which was hard fought for amongst interested bidders to settle at £25,000.

Lot 224 | KOREAN WHITE-GLAZED MOON JAR | JOSEON DYNASTY,

Also generating considerable interest during viewing and on sale day, the Fine Famille Rose Gilt-Decorated Flambe-Ground Hu Vase sold strongly achieving double its estimate at £20,000.
