Modern British Jewellery Review of Select Jewellery March 2022

Fine examples of Modern British jewellery design including pieces by John Donald, Charles de Temple and Wendy Ramshaw proved extremely popular in our Spring 2022 edition of the Select Jewellery & Watches auction, achieving impressive results. Join our Head of Jewellery, London, Charlotte Peel as she takes a closer look...

Following on from our private loan exhibitions of British jewellery from the 1960s and 1970s Stardust and Glam Rocks in 2019 and 2021, respectively, we were delighted to be entrusted with the sale of two private collections of jewellery from that period in our 30 March 2022 Select Jewellery & Watches sale.

Another highlight from this period was a series of jewels by John Donald set with orange topaz crystals, known in the trade as barley sugar topaz, which included a brooch, bracelet, ear pendants and a swivelling watch/brooch, which had been created in collaboration with renowned Swiss watchmaker Corum. The collection sold for a combined total of 17,250* against a low estimate of £5,100.
