We are proud to welcome several new team members to our Glasgow & West Coast team this spring - find out more about the new team below or drop into our Glasgow Gallery for a visit.
Charlotte Rostek comes to Lyon & Turnbull from Dumfries House in Ayrshire, the Robert Adam designed country house saved by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2007. As Curator to the Trust she has worked on the restoration and conservation of the stately home and its important 18th century contents. She has played a key role in transforming the house from a forgotten secret to an established quality visitor experience, educational resource and royal residence. Charlotte was born in Germany and travelled widely before moving permanently from a post at the Kunsthalle Bielefeld to Scotland. She has been Keeper of Art at Paisley Museum and Art Galleries, and Curator at Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s iconic masterpiece, The Hill House in Helensburgh.
“Charlotte will head up the team at Lyon & Turnbull’s office at 182 Bath St, Glasgow and she will be responsible for maintaining client contacts and business development in the west, as well as formulating new strategies to grow Lyon & Turnbull’s west coast business.” - Gavin Strang Managing Director of Lyon & Turnbull
General valuations for the west coast will be undertaken by James McNaught, as he continues his career at Lyon & Turnbull to become a general valuer for Glasgow and the west. Strang continued “One of our core strategies at Lyon & Turnbull is to promote young talent from within the business. James joined the Glasgow Team in 2012; he will spend some time in Edinburgh learning from the various specialist departments, attending more sales to assist his ongoing learning. Going forward he will carry out more of our valuations in the west of Scotland.”
The new team will continue Lyon & Turnbull's important role in the city's arts & culture network - from regular exhibitions celebrating the art and design of Glasgow to supporting work at the Glasgow School of Art, The Glasgow Art Club and local charities. Charlotte and her team are currently putting the finishing touches to a two day exhibition of paintings, furniture and works of art at The Lighthouse, Scotland’s Centre for Design and Architecture. The exhibition includes a painting of Glasgow’s Botanical Gardens by John Duncan Fergusson R.B.A. (SCOTTISH 1874-1961), entitled the ‘Greenhouse Botanic Gardens’ (estimated at £40,000-60,000 and due to be offered on 09 June in Edinburgh)
