Introducing Kate Flitcroft | Our new Head of Jewellery in London
It is great pleasure that we welcome Kate Flitcroft to the Lyon & Turnbull team. Kate is an auctioneer, award-winning gemmologist and silver specialist, and our new head of Jewellery & Silver (London). As a ten-year veteran of Christie's, Kate brings with her a wealth of experience and contacts.
Kate earned a BA (hons.) in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis followed by an MA (distinction) in History of Art from the University of Glasgow. She earned an FGA from the Gemmological Association of London (Gem-A) where she is currently an adjunct tutor and won the Anderson Medal for Gemmology in 2016. As a charity auctioneer, Kate has raised over £1.7 million for charity.
As an introduction Kate has chosen some her favourite pieces from our recent Jewellery auctions and explains why they did so well.
Art Deco Period Pieces
The elegance of the Art Deco period will always be a favourite. It is not surpurising that period pieces from the 1920s and 1930s consistently attract attention and realise strong prices.
So much to choose from in the world of coloured stones, from luscious emeralds to sapphires in classic velvety blue and fancy yellow hues.
Pearls, especially all-natural saltwater examples with no signs of treatment, are a classical choice and are increasing in value as freshwater pearls become more widely available. The delicate shades of pink, white and grey-to-purple are particularly sought after
Kate will be based at our new gallery at 22 Connaught Street in London and will be visiting clients' homes & offices, so why not pop by or drop Kate a line to make an appointment for a no-obligation valuation.
