Country House Collections | The Wynches, Hertfordshire

Wynches, in the small Hertfordshire village of Much Hadham, is a large and impressive Grade II listed house dating from various periods, having a Tudor cottage element, a Georgian main house, and Victorian extensions. Set in fourteen acres of parkland, the property is situated amongst cultivated herbaceous beds, vast green lawns, an orchard, and ponds.

Over the last twenty years it’s owner furnished the house with pieces spanning the 17th through the 19th century, suiting the property’s variety of styles, with each room reflecting its respective period. A walk through its rooms presented the visitor with interiors presenting a timeline of British vernacular design and speak to the owner’s own varied tastes. Highlights of the sale include a Georgian leather porter’s chair, a George I walnut bureau, and a 19th century Italian white marble torchere.
