Note: R. W. Winfield & Co. were well known during the 19th century for their production of metal bedsteads, gas lights and fittings although today they are best known for their unusual steel rocking chair. They exhibited at both the Great Exhibition of 1851, and again at the International Exhibition of 1862. At the former, they were one of 170 exhibitors awarded the council or first class medal for "superior excellence in general brass foundry, metallic bedsteads, and gas fittings."
