Note: Spinoza's Tractatus theologico-politicus "contains the first clear statement of the independence of each other of philosophy and religion" (PMM). Spinoza died in 1677 and his Opera posthuma contain one of his most important writings, the Ethics, as well as a Hebrew grammar and selections from his correspondence.
