Footnote
Note: Walter Crane was one of the most prolific illustrators and designers associated with the Arts and Crafts Movement, with his works illustrating children's stories largely contributing to the development of the children-in-garden motif visible in nursery rhymes and stories. This panel alludes to Crane's 1877 wallpaper design 'Swan, Rush and Iris' (now in the Victoria and Albert Museum), which takes its inspiration from Greek vase paintings.
